Compte de Chibray

An aide-de-campe to Napoleon III and Renée's lover for a short while before he was snatched away by the Duchess von Sternich. He was a vain and handsome man. Like many of the characters he appears in the opening and closing scenes of the book parading in his carriage around the Bois de Boulogne.
